Aventurine, rutilated quartz, and agate are all members of the quartz family, which also contains amethyst, citrine, rock crystal, rose quartz, and smokey quartz. Quartz is one of the most abundent gemstones.
Aventurine occurs naturally in green, blue, and orange colors. Its glistening effect comes from small inclusions of shiny minerals. Rutilated quartz is transparent rock crystal with golden or gray needles of rutile arrayed in patterns inside it. Agate is often found with bands of different colors. These small beads are a translucent dark gray.
